A Pattern Test: Danielle Batwing Knit Top by Sinclair Patterns

Hello everyone! Today, I would like to share about my experience pattern-testing a new design by Sinclair Patterns. Say hello to the Danielle Top – a relaxed fit, batwing knit top, that is beyond comfortable. When I first saw it, I knew I had to have it since I’m in the middle of building my handmade wardrobe and I’m in desperate need of some separates! Even though I like drafting up my own patterns, I also like saving myself some time by using whatever great patterns are already available in the style I want. This pattern is totally my style and I’m so glad I was chosen to be a pattern-tester for it. When I really like something, I go straight to LOVING IT… and that is absolutely true with his top – I am really LOVING it!  If I wanted one in every color of the rainbow, I could have it… and that makes me SO HAPPY! Another perk to add to my long list of why I absolutely love making my own clothes. This top features a stylish crisscross detail along the back neck and center seam that…

I made another Handmade Nursing Dress!

I am so excited to share my newest make with you all. It’s another nursing-friendly dress… and this time, it has an invisible zip down the center front. This dress is a variation of the previous dress I made for myself. I just altered the button placket to accommodate the invisible zip instead. Oh and I changed the sleeve a bit… On my sleeve pattern, I shortened the sleeve & then increased the width of the hem using the slash and spread method. I actually love how it turned out! Nursing Dress with a Zipper Alterations: I added a 5/8” seam allowance to my bodice’s center front and my skirt’s center front. After sewing up the darts on my bodices’ front and back pieces…and then pressing them, I attached each of my bodice front pieces to the corresponding waist seams of the skirt front pieces. I finished the seam allowances of both CF edges and proceeded with inserting the invisible zipper – making sure I matched the zipper up at the waist seams. I eliminated the center back seams for both my back bodice and skirt…

My First Pattern Testing Experience – featuring The Alivia Dress

When I launched this blog earlier this year, I longed to share about all the major milestones in my Lovemade & Handmade life whenever I could.  I feel like I have been doing that, but the milestones are happening quickly and sometimes simultaneously so sharing about it ALL is proving to be a bit of a challenge. Life isn’t pausing for me to blog about it, you know? But that’s all good, no? Life shouldn’t be so predictable anyways… that’s what makes it fun! So, here I am, a few days late in telling you about this amazing opportunity I recently got to be a part of. I got to be a pattern-tester for Handmaiden’s Cottage for their new Alivia Dress! Yay! My first pattern-testing experience… talk about a MAJOR milestone! For me, at least… I loved it! It was so interesting seeing some of the hard work that releasing a new sewing pattern entails. It sure isn’t easy! There’s so much as a pattern-maker to keep in mind and double check… and that’s where us pattern…

I made my very own Birthday Dress & it’s Nursing Friendly!

Hey y’all! I finally finished my 30th Birthday Dress… Yay! Let the heavens rejoice! And I’m FINALLY sharing about it on here. It feels like it’s taken me FOREVER… and I’m so excited to share some of the process with you all. If you follow me on my sewing/craft instagram, you probably saw a bit of the process already, but in case you don’t follow me on there (…yet? 🙂 ), I’ll share about some of it right here in this blog post. It all started the weekend before my birthday. Truthfully, I thought I could finish this dress THAT weekend. What was I thinking?!?!? I must’ve forgotten that I’m a giant KID magnet and my kids just love me. I can’t complain though because I absolutely LOOOOOOVE them too and I tend to give into their requests for snuggles and cuddles – even while I’m trying to sew. And somewhere along the way, summer took over and I indulged in birthday celebrations, day-dates with friends, date nights with my handsome hubby, weekends at the beach, and…

Handmade Pinafore Birthday Dresses

My youngest daughter, Kari, turned 2 years old last week. And in honor of her growth, I made her a new dress – A Handmade Pinafore Birthday Dress! And I’m gonna tell you all about it, but first… I’m in awe at how quickly the years pass by when we welcome a new baby. It’s like time speeds up while I’m trying my best to slow it down to savor every little moment. I clearly remember bringing Kari home & I knew it then that time was going to pass by quickly & here we are, 2 years later, and it has definitely passed by waaaay too fast! We JUST celebrated her 1st birthday and now she’s turning TWO?… Why is she growing so fast? And why is it all happening so quickly? Am I having too much fun? Probably! But, I sure do wish she’d stay a baby just a little while longer… If you’re curious to see what we did for Kari’s 1st birthday, I shared about it HERE. This year, I continued the tradition I started 5 years…

How to Make Flan with Only 5 Ingredients

Do you like flan?… I absolutely love it! It’s been my favorite dessert since childhood and I’ve always been so curious about how it’s made. If you don’t know what FLAN is, it’s a sweet & creamy custard that’s made with eggs & milk… and it. is. divine.  I stumbled on this delicious recipe last November when one of my aunts shared it on Facebook. It caught my attention because I was pondering what desserts to make for Thanksgiving… and when I saw this flan, it just made perfect sense! I had never attempted to make flan before so it was long overdue – especially since I’m on a mission to fill my life with all the things I love; and learning how to make it myself is a part of the process that helps me enjoy life even more. The recipe seemed easy enough so I tested it out on Thanksgiving Day and the flan came out PERFECTLY. It was, honestly, the best flan I had ever tasted! You know how some flans are thick and heavy? Or when you’re…
